Vampire facelift is a combination of platelet rich protein (PRP) and hyaluronic acid injections used to volumize the face in the tear troughs, cheeks, smile lines and marionette lines. It is a trademarked technique however, PRP is great for skin rejuvenation. So it really can be used as an adjunct to any filler out on the market. It really does make a difference in the overall appearance of the skin.
The Vampire Facelift
The aging process causes the muscles and collagen in your face to decrease. This “collapse” often makes a person’s cheeks flat and their eyes hollow. The skin may also look dull and gray instead of showing the lively rose hue seen in children. The result is that a person may look worn, tired or droopy even when they feel rested and relaxed.
The Vampire Facelift™ can bring back this youthful color and volume. The entire treatment takes place in the medspa, takes about 40 minutes and is similar to other dermal filler injections. There is no down time and most clients go right back to work and/or other normal daily routines.
Initially, the SELPHYL® System was nicknamed the “vampire filler” by the media as a novel, simple, reproducible, hypoallergenic, and cost effective treatment. SELPHYL® is used by cosmetic healthcare providers to harness the patient’s own biology and platelets to naturally fill skin depressions, acne scars, wrinkles and folds, rather than using synthetic, plastic, or animal-derived materials. However, there are several blood collection systems now to obtain PRP. Simplicity Medspa uses the Selphyl system.
Why Choose Simplicity?
Debra Tri, ARNP has become one of the leading cosmetic injectors in Washington State. She is a member of the American Cosmetic Cellular Medicine Association. The ACCMA was founded by Dr. Charles Runels, the original developer of the Vampire Facelift.
Allergan, manufacturer of Botox and Juvederm, has recognized Debra Tri as a certified Platinum Partner and she is treating 7 to 10 patients with Botox, Juvederm, Radiesse and Selphyl every day.
Injectables are not a part time vocation for Debra. Injectables are her focus day in and day out.
How it Works
A nurse practitioner will draw a small amount of blood from your arm. The blood is then processed with the Selphyl System… Your platelets are isolated from other blood components and they are activated by exposing them to calcium chloride. The Selphyl System forms a rejuvenating elixir (made by your own platelets) called PRFM… platelet-rich fibrin matrix. This serum is then injected back into multiple areas of the face in the specific areas to induce growth of new collagen, skin tissue, and blood vessels around each injection site.
Collectively, this activity lifts the skin away from the bone, creates skin volume and new blood flow, thereby sculpting the face and creating a younger complexion for a more youthful and healthy appearance.
Does it really work?
Absolutely! When the growth factors activate the unipotent stem cells of the skin, then the unipotent stem cells generate new skin, new blood flow, and new collagen… all of this means actual new tissue! Not only do you see more volume, but you see truly younger skin!
The most common word that people use around the third week is “Glowing” because their friends see a younger more “glowing” complexion from the neovascularization (new blood flow from the new blood vessels that grow from the unipotent stem cells). The best way to visualize this is to imagine what you see when a young child has been playing outside in the sun–that rosy, glowing, complexion.
What to Expect
- Advanced Nurse Practitioner will draw a small amount of blood and filter out your natural autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
- Your PRP activated, PRFM will be formed and injected back into your skin in a variety of locations on your face.
- No anesthesia is required, although we can numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream.
- You may have a few red spots for about an hour.
- As soon as the treatment is finished, you can reapply make up and get on with your day.
- You’ll notice a slight plumping or tightening or volumizing effect for a day or two. This is due to the PRFM being injected into the skin. The effect will dissipate and then your wrinkles will start to soften and disappear as collagen and tissue regenerate over the next 30 days.
The entire procedure takes no more than 30 minutes. It is possible to achieve your desired results after just one visit, but only you and your doctor can determine the best approach for treatment. The Selphyl® System is safe and reliable and no adverse reactions have been reported to date.
